Okapi Centauress Model-Makeup-Photoshoot by DJ88 Okapi Centauress Model-Makeup-Photoshoot by DJ88
Totally did this for fun, which is why it's soo messy and simple lol.
Well if you know anything about me, you know that I've an interest in special effects makeup (mostly for horror films, but yeah).

And I was watching/listening to a special featurette on my Return Of The Living Dead DVD called "the Decade Of Darkness", where a lot of figures that had to do with horror films of the 1980s talk about, well, horror films of the 1980s. And in this featurette they talk about special effects makeup, pre CGI. So I got this image in my mind.
A "behind the photoshoot" kind of thing for my Okapi Centauress drawing I had uploaded. Showing the model getting her makeup put on. And a pic of her without the makeup. Just for fun :p

Here's the finished "photoshoot" image.

"How did they add the body?"
Uhhh....... they made the body? Taxidermy? CGI/computer effects? I dunno. The ears are an easy thing to attach though. Make fake ears and add them with regular run of the mill special makeup tools..... spirit gum.

Will move to scraps later.

This would be a very cool thing to see made into reality. With a real model/actress. For either a film or photoshoot.

Yeah.

-Danielle

also, I spelled "photoshoot" as one word, deal with it. Though my computer is telling me how wrong the spelling is. bagh.

This is fantastic. The final piece made me so happy when I saw it in my inbox. I always thought an okapi would make for a good centaur character and you managed it perfectly. These doodles add a lot of charm to the original too. :3 excellent work.

Love the before and after look of the "model". Back in the 80's before CGI- Stan Winston was the guy who did A LOT of special effects and make up.

How I would do it would be you have a "body" for the close ups where the model would sit in so you can have some what realism to her- but then use stop motion/blue screen for the far away scenes.

Just my two cents.

This is amazing and with today's special effects this could be possible. And It has been done with Broadway's The Lion King

Cute idea, not something I've seen before.

So did they photoshop the okapi body in the final, or was it part of the costume? :p

Thanks :D
I think it could go either way. The could have made it themselves and had her climb a bit inside of it. Or just Photoshopped it later on. Though I like the costume Idea. It would just be difficult. And uncomfortable.

That would be kind of cool. Having the models all be centaurs to a bunch of animals. Soo how they work with that lol.

Orangey??? Baw.
My laptop is less saturated than regular computers. So what looks normal to me, could look much different to another on different screens XD
