Decided to make a quick Thylacine Stamp of one of my own drawings.

for the thylacine fans out there ;)

here's the original:

enjoy!

And a quick fun bit of information?

There are 2 types of Extinction. "Biological" and "Functional". Biological basically means they're all gone, never coming back. not a chance. Like the Dodo Bird. Then there's "Functional". Meaning there may be a small group left of a species, but not enough to sustain and or increase the amount of the species. Meaning they're holding on by a thread or silently fading away without us seeing them. It is believed that the Thylacine may fall into the Functional category, because recent evidence has pointed to them still being around.
With all the alleged sightings and what-not.

Well I hope they are functionally extinct (I mean i don't want them to be completely "poof",gone.) Maybe if they manage to find one or two alive they can start breeding them in captivity again :L IF they aren't completely gone.I'm glad there is a little evidence though,I would hate to see these beautiful critters go.I would love to see a photograph of one in color/high quality. The only pics I could find were in cruddy black and white.

Question: Why do your thylacines usually have that dark patch on the upper muzzle? I have not seen a picture or skin of any thylacine with such a coloring. Am I mistake or is it an artistic addition? Forgive my curiosity :)

Well For my main character I did exaggerate the darkness of the muzzle markings, and due to my own personal research, I have found many a photo/pelt/video that suggest Thylacine having different shades on their pelt all over, rather than just being one solid-ish color.

The taxidermy specimen are usually what people go by in terms of actually coloring them, but when you compare these two images :

you'll find that the black and white image's thylacines coats have more to them than the taxidermy specimen.

Theory is that in the case of taxadermy, pigments in the fur fade and die with time due to the conditions of the body, and the light it is put under.

I have found a few skinned pelts that show off more of a multi colored coat as well, some better than others.

Also it helps to see colored oil paintings/drawings done by artists who saw the animal firsthand, right infront of them. So look for art that was painted around the time the animal was still around.

So again, I may play up the color a bit for my original characters, but I have found that in quite a few cases, my designs are pretty similar to how they may have actually looked.

Hope this helped ;)

I love the thylacines!

I'm also one of those cryptid lovers that dreams they are still out there.

I hate humans and how we kill everything. -_-

You are quite welcome, but unfortunately it is the truth. Still we can dream and be ashamed of our species.

I like to think that one day they'll be able to engineer thylacines back from DNA they have/find. It would be amazing to bring back so many lost species that are just so amazing in their own right.

I think the biggest thing is:

Will we ever learn?

OMG REALLY?!?!! I hadn't heard of any of that evidence or sightings!!! Omg, if only some scientists could get their hands on some DNA and make a bunch of clones or something... or at least leave out meat for them in the alleged sighting areas to help feed them. If they're still around, I soooooooooooooooo wish we could somehow help them come back from the brink.........
