A head-shot of your Original Character, drawn in my style. Sketched on paper, scanned, and then colored.

But only the head/shoulders. Not a full body commission. I will give it the royal treatment of some kind of background, shading, lighting, color, etc... Similar to the images above.
(I would do more cel shading than soft shading.)
(If you choose a human, I may do  a torso and up drawing. Because people/mostly ladies/ are fun to draw for me )

This commission would cost $14, which equals out to 1120 .
This is a fairly low price.... because, I still haven't figured out the prices that I want to make for my commissions. (I wanna slightly heighten them from what I have been offering.)

I will want the points before I draw the image.

This is not first come first serve, I choose based on how fun the character looks to draw.
So please comment with an offer and a reference.
(your character does not need to be overly decked out in design, it can be a simple character. Just wanted to throw that out there lol)

Again, it will be drawn in my style. Not in Disney/TLK  style.
(My style could be more cartoony or more realistic-ish. With animals/bigcats it's more realistic-ish, With humans I tend to be more cartoony.) We can decide on those details later.

..... So..... Before you ask me for a trade, a commission, a request, anything. Please look at that art status. If it says "Closed", then I am closed . If it says "Open", then by all means, ask me for a drawing! If we make a deal, I'd add you to the list!
And I usually put a date for when I update it, so you know if I have currently updated my status, or if things haven't changed since the LAST time I updated. I try to keep on tabs with that thing for you guys.

I am tired of saying "I am sorry, but at this point in time  my Trades/etc... are closed. But thank you for considering me! "

I feel like a jerk. And I get a bit frustrated because, again, I posted it in GREAT big letters on the top of my page. I know that most of you can read. You're on the internet. A majority of the content you find on the internet, you read.


And if it says I am closed, and you see me doing a trade with someone? It's probably because I am doing a trade with a friend of mine. Or it's a spontaneous trade that I feel like doing or I ask for.

As it says in my art status;

Reserved for friends.
What does that mean?
It means that I will sometimes do a trade with someone that I am friends with. Now don't go trying to become friends with me just so you can get a trade. No, no. These people are people that I have known, talked to, and respect for a while, sometimes even years. Friendship is earned, not asked for. So don't go asking to be friends either. If we become friends, then we become friends. I usually try to be very nice to everyone.

I also do trades with artists I respect. Even admire.  So I will do a trade with such people as well.

As fun as trades are...And there are some people I'd like to ask for a trade...... I only really do trades with good friends these days. Meaning, I'd have to know you for a while.
Or perhaps I'd do  a trade with another artist that I am interested in trading with (An artist I myself admire, respect, etc...)
So, please, Unless I post a journal stating that I'd be open to trades(and I have been thinking of doing that lately for funzies!! ), please don't ask me. Just keep your eyes out for announcements and such.
OR!!! Sometimes, I may just go and ask a person to do a trade with me! You never know!!! Trades are fairly fun.

No, no  some time, when I feel like it..... I will post a journal announcing that I will be accepting  trades. I'd make a list, update when slots are filled. And then announce that trades are closed again when all the slots are filled. Then I will proceed to do the trades for those people.
So Trades are not completely ruled out. Don't worry about it just keep an eye out for whenever I make a journal announcing that I am accepting trades!


Also, I feel like I should add this. And I am sure some of you can sympathize with me on this.....Guys, I have mixed feelings about trades in general. While very fun, I have been ripped off in the past. Which is one reason why I don't usually do trades at all. And I was ripped off by people whom I was excited to do a trade(s) with.  I can understand a couple of them, maybe they had a kid, maybe got married, got busy with schooling, had other priorities other than art... sure. It's a bummer really. I was really looking forward to their half, I completed my half(s), etc... Oh well, you move on. Don't hold a grudge. It's whatever.

Though that was long ago, and not everyone is like that. I just have it in the back of my mind, "Hmmm.....I wonder if this person is going to rip me off or not.....".




Anyways, I am not sure what else to add to all of that.
I hope I did not offend anyone (though again, this is not really aimed at any specific person.....). I hope I did not come off as bitchy.

3. People have been asking me what programs I use for my art.
I use a mix of Pencil, paper, my scanner, a wacom intuos tablet, paint tool sai, and photoshop elements 4.
Usually you see the mix of my tablet,sai,and photoshop.
Though Lately I have been messing around with outlining in pencil. Scanning, and then finishing in photoshop.

Perhaps I shall make a tutorial on how I do that some time.

8. I am thinking of hosting a contest soon, more of a fashion design thing for a lady character of mine. Would any of you guys be remotely interested in such a contest? Say yay or nay. And maybe I'll make a thing of it LOL.

I am by no means an expert on legalities. I don't know if this goes the same for writers. I only know what I know by reading this article. And by talking with a friend or two about it.
I don't even know if this is Legit.
All I know is that Instagram has been trying to claim your uploads for a while now. I am NOT a member of Instagram, so I do not really follow the issue much. So this is not too far fetched for me to believe.
I got the link to the article via a post on FB from a Pro Artist.

But what I do know ,and encourage you to do, is to watermark your work. Sign your work. Make an effort to let it be known that YOU are the artist who drew it. If the work "belongs" to an artist, it is not "orphaned" or "public domain".
Regardless as to weather this is true or not. You should always watermark your work

Or I put the noticeable and often times hard to remove "DJ88" or "©DJ88" over the faces/characters of my drawings I upload.

Also I am glad that I do not have an Instagram. I have known that they wanted to reserve the right to sell any image that YOU upload. Weather it's a photo or a drawing.
So if you have an instagram, be careful as to what you upload there.


As far as watermarking goes?
You should add you website, a signature, and a/or a © watermark. 1 or all of those things may help.
If you are drawing fanart. You should note in your watermark that the art is yours but the character belongs to the respected owner(s).
Example;
"Art by DJ88   DJ88.Deviantart.Com   Simba/The Lion King © Disney/Walt Disney Pictures"

For those who are asking, here is a tutorial made by *Kamakru on how to watermark your work via Photoshop;

Any other program? Google a tutorial. I am not an expert on every program. If the program does not offer text, you can add the signature through copying/pasting, or drawing it by hand with the Tablet/mouse, or even Scan it in.

Though I liked the idea of him having basically a fleshified chainsaw head, with the metal chainsaw bar as a snout. No mouth or anything.

It gives him his own character. BUT I am still playing around with his design for his head.

WELL!!!

I have 2 notes and a comment or two asking how I get movie colors. So, instead of repeating myself, I figured I'd just make a journal about it. To share with everyone all at once! This can be a long one.... so bare with me.

THIS IS ALL THE RESULT OF MY PERSONAL PRACTICE AND OBSERVATIONS OF THE LION KING STYLE AND FILM. These methods and observations  may vary from your own observations, just do some trial and error. and good luck to it!

This could also possibly work for any other animal character you want to create. Color tone wise. not just for TLK

Some of the tips here can be obtained by certain digital art programs. I am personally familiar with Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop Elements 4. Anything else? You might have to look up a tutorial online. Remember, Google and or YouTube can be an artist's best friend these days! So many references, tutorials, and tips!

Guys, let me try to explain this, it is not that difficult to try and get your movie colors on your own characters.

Here are the colors/things you have to think about when making a character;

Main pelt.
Underbelly
Under Eye (optional)
Upper Eye
Eyelids
Actual Eye Colors
Eye Brows
Mane/Tail
Inner Ear
Ear Rims (optional)
Nose
Nose Fade (Optional)
Paw Pads




All you have to do is observe the characters in the films.  See their color schemes, and try to make your original character on model according to what you see. Look at A LOT of screenshot references for colors and examples. I mean A-LOT.

And to test the colors, pop the character in a screen shot (make sure it is day time colors with a daytime screen shot!! "Main colors" are usually daytime colors.) To see if it fits.
DO NOT USE THIS AS AN EXCUSE FOR A BG. TRY TO DRAW YOUR OWN BGS. THIS METHOD IS JUST TO TEST TO SEE IF THE COLORS WORK. Do not think "Hmm. Now I need a background, let's just use a screenshot so it looks official and I don't need to draw anything!! "
No... no no no... NO!!!.. I use the background thing to make sure it is on model. And to compare old colors with new colors. Backgrounds from films can be a learning tool, not stock images for bgs. I don't care how insecure you are with your BGs, you won't get better at them if you don't try. And you also do not need to upload the BG SCREEN test either. That could just be for you.

(Also, if you're making a relative of a certain character, try to make your new character similar to the already existing character, but not an exact copy. remember, they are a different character after all, they should just share some characteristics of the already existing character. Or you can make them as different as night and day color wise. It's up to you. You could still give a bodily feature that shares similarities. such as  Eye shapes/colors. Nose shapes/colors. Build. Eye brows, ear shapes, chin shapes, etc...)

And keep in mind what "mood" you are trying to bring on with the character. If the character is happy and inviting, try bright warmer colors. Moody or cruel? Try muted and or darker colors.

(also, I have noticed that cubs colors are brighter than adult colors in the first film (something they may have ignored in the second film.... if memory serves correct). So cub colors are more saturated and brighter, and adult colors are slightly duller and a bit darker, depending on what character you look at.

If you already have a character created, but they do not fit,  try to play with the saturation of the main pelt, and then follow the tips/advice below.

With all that out of the way, here we go;



Main Pelt
You notice that they all kinda have a color scheme. Originating with their main pelt.
So start there. Make sure the main pelt is a color that looks like it would fit within the film. Usually and obviously (nala)tans,(Sarabi) browns, (scar)reddish browns, and golden browns(Simba).
There are no super red lions in the films. (Even though, depending on what screen you are looking at, Scar can seem more brown or more red.)
And no straight banana yellow lions either.
Always try to mix a tan or brown in their. As far as how dark you want to make them? That's up to you. And mess with the saturation, an overly saturated character can be insane to look at from one screen to the other.

Underbelly
After you figure out what the main pelt color of the character is, you can work on the underbelly. Usually the under belly is just a less saturated, and lighter version of the main pelt. How much lighter or similar to the main pelt that you want it is up to you. And remember, look at already existing characters for reference and example on what is too much or too little. But also try to keep the character unique at the same time.

Sarabi's and Mufasa's underbelly colors are pretty similar to their main pelt, while Scar's is a bit more drastically different. But still keeping with his tone of reddish browns. Just, creamy colored. Not "white"

Upper Eye/Under Eye
As far as as the eye colorings? Around the eyes there's either 1 or 2 different colors.
The "Upper Eye" color, or "Eye Pad" or "Makeup could either be lighter or darker than the main pelt. For lighter? Go with the underbelly coloring. OR! As they do in the film, take the underbelly coloring, make a new layer over the color layer, put the underbelly coloring as a big slpoch over the main pelt color. And play with the opacity. So it will be a mix of the underbelly coloring AND the main pelt, basically a slightly darker underbelly color. So as to keep with the over all tone of the character. And the Under eye color? Which all lions have in RL. Is a brighter and sometimes more saturated underbelly coloring.

If you wish to make the upper eye color darker? I suggest taking the main pelt coloring, darkening it, and playing with the saturation intensity. Even making a new layer, getting the color of the main pelt, put a splotch , and set the layer to multiply, get the new color, and mess with the saturation. That one is really up to you. It could be more brown, or more grey-ish.

And you can use the dark color (or even the light color) for an all round color around the eyes like Scar has.
The other characters of the first film have the lighter under eye color.



Eyelids
Eyelids can be either the same color as the upper eye color, or a big darker than the upper eye color.  You could get creative and make it lighter, like Tama's, but as far as I remember, I have not seen that in the films. As far as saturation for the eye lids? Less or more or leave it alone, it could work any which way, but just don't make them too crazy. Remember to try and keep with the color scheme of the character.


Actual Eye Colors
Well this isn't to hard.
Typically the eye colors for TLK lions aren't that different from each other.
Their "Eye Whites" are yellow colors. But don't get crazy highlighter yellow colors. Some colors actually have shade and color schemes to them as well. You can have richer or paler golden yellows, nearly orange too. Or even greener yellows. But slightly.
Sarabi's seem to be more orange-y yellow depending on what scene you're looking at, Simba's more golden yellow/yellow. And Nala has a greenish tint to her eye yellow.
Your character's Eye yellows can usually be determined  by the color of the eye. This could be fun. Usually we see Browns, greens, and blues.
The Browns can be light, dark, even yellowy, or orange (Sarabi has orange-ish eyes). Possibly a red brown. As far as blues and greens? Nala's eyes (in the first film) are typically a grey green blue, more on the green side. In the second film, they're electric blue, you might want to stay away from that though. It just doesn't fit in with the color schemes sometimes. If you're going for a blue, I suggest less saturation, and not too bright. As far as greens? Scar's green seems to work fine, but don't be afraid to make the green yellower, to give it a hazel look. And don't be afraid to look at eye colors from RL either. You could come up with some cool colors that way.
But do stay away from the overly saturated blues, purples and so on. Even though they're animated lions, they seemed to try to keep with what could exist in nature/real life. for the most part.


Eye Brows
These are easy, Either make the eye brows a darker version of the main pelt, mane/tail, or black. Which would mean a dark dark nearly black red or brown.


Main/Tail colorings?
You could go either way. Usually we see browns, reddish browns, and or blacks.  Or in Mufasa and  Simba's case, the red mane they have as adults are the same as their tails. And secondary colors in the manes are usually just darker versions of the main mane color. You can color the manes according to the main color scheme of the character. Or give them something that will "pop". Sometimes contrast in a character can be more eye catching


Inner Ear
And then there is the inside ear , or "Inner Ear"coloring. You can usually take the upper eye color and make it slightly darker, and less saturated for the inner ear color.

Or do the same with the main pelt color, if you chose to make the upper eye color light.


Ear Rims
This is pretty optional, seeing as not all characters have this feature.Simba has ear rims as a cub, but loses them as an adult. Sarabi, however, has them as an adult. So it can be assumed that she possibly had them as a cub and they never faded away. If you want to give your characters Ear rims. They could either be darker versions of the main pelt (much darker) Or really dark reddish brown (giving the illusion of black).  Depending on the brightness of the image itself. Even go as far as Malka's ear rims and make them slightly darker that the main pelt.


Noses
The nose colors of tlk characters typically come on pinks, brown pinks, browns, and blacks. They're brightest  when they're cubs, but the saturation and or darkness usually lowers when they age.  Example? Cub Nala has a cute pink nose, and adult Nala has a more, brown pink nose.  Try not to over saturate the pinks, especially when they're adults.
And, not that you or the film really follow this, in the wild, when lions are cubs their noses are pink. And they get darker and darker as they age, from dark pink, to dark brown with a pink tint, to even black or dark brown in some cases. As long as it suites you or the character's color scheme. It's fine.


Nose Fades.
This is also an optional feature. Seeing as Sarabi, and possibly other female Pridelanders did not have this. And as far as the nose fades of characters? You could choose either the color of the under belly or upper eye color for that. Even using a darker version of the main pelt. Or mixing the underbelly/main pelt colorings. Play around with it. It's pretty simple.
(Note: In the film, when Simba is still around, Scar's nose fade is dark, but when Scar is king, and Simba returns as an adult, Scar's Nose fade became lighter. Possibly to show his age. It's not mandatory but it is something to think about.)


Paw Pads
Paw pads can vary between the color of the nose of the character, darker version color  of the nose, or darker colors of the main pelt. Even black if you'd like. But op for a deep dark brown/red if you're aiming for black. Similar to the ear rims. Saturation is up to you.




EXTRA TIPS!!!

Shading
And as far as shading goes? Make a new layer, put that layer of the color AND line-art layer, draw in the shading with a regular drawing bush, put the layer to multiply, and Gaussian blur  the layer to your desire. OR just use a fuzzy brush to shade. it's your choice. Remember to try and get the blurriness of the film, again, compare to screen shots. And I suggest you to not use black for shading, it makes the image seem a bit flat. Use either the main pelt, a darker version of the main pelt, browns, and or reds to get the shading color. Or blues if it is a night scene. But play with the saturation and darkness of the shading colors you are using.

Once you put the layer to multiply, you will see the difference. and of-course erase excess shading. Use the magic want tool, select the negative space on the color layer, go back to the shading layer and erase/cut the selected stuff that is outside of the character.

And to add a gradient  shading. select the negative spacing around the character on the color layer again.  make a new layer, put the new layer on top of the color/line-art layers, and use either the gradient tool, or a giant fuzzy brush to put a dark color (either the main pelt or a color that matches the tone of the rest of the image) and make it darker at the bottom and fade into clear towards the top. even without regular shading this could give off the feel of a shaded image.

Want to add some light up top?
Make a new layer above all the other layers. Use the gradient tool and or fuzzy brush, get a color that is either white, or a very very light color that matches the rest of the image, make the gradient fade. and mess with the opacity. Even put the layer onto "overlay" if you want for more effect.

You can even use the overlay lighting layer for brighter colors on the character itself, using the gradient and or a fuzzy brush tool. You may want to put this layer under the line-art layer. depends on you.

You can even add the darker  gradient shade at the bottom of the whole image to make the whole image seem to have some fade to it.

Don't forget to mess with all the shading's opacities!!!



And yeah. that is basically it for TLK pictures. Mix, match, play around, and practice with these ideas and such, to suit your liking and whatever. If you wish to make night time colors, evening colors, morning colors, etc..... You could try to put your characters through some filters and such, and again, pop them into the screen shots to test and see if it's a good match, or to see if you need to try again. You don't always get it right the first time.

EDIT: I don't know if I made my point clear. I am not complaining about the film. I am not criticizing it. I am not stating how unrealistic it is. I am sarcastically saying that if we made the story realistic, we wouldn't have the  movie as we know and love it. Making a bit of fun at the picture and what it is stating concerning that is logical that Simba and Nala are siblings. Im showing that if we did bring in the logic and realism, again, we wouldn't have the movie. I'm poking fun at the picture and it's message. Not the film..

Now here's what I had to say about it;


"People seem to forget that this is a humanized story aimed at children, but also made to be enjoyable to adults. If it was written to really showcase how lions are;

1. All or most of the lionesses would have cubs fathered by either Scar or Mufasa.

2. There would be two kings, Scar and Mufasa.

3. Scar would not have cared if Simba was next in line, would not have staged the stampeded, and would not have befriended the Hyenas.

4. Simba, if he survived to sexual maturity, would have been driven out by his own Father/pride because he would have been in competition to the "throne".

5. Simba would have eaten Timon and Pumbaa.

6. When reaching sexual maturity, and if Simba was chased off, Nala may have mated with either Scar or Mufasa. And or produced their cubs. Because they'd be the only males in the pride.

7. If Simba was chased off, and Scar was in charge, and Mufasa somehow passed on, Scar would have had babies with the lionesses. And if Simba came back and took over, he would have killed those babies.

8.No one would have shown up for the birth of Simba.

9. Simba never could have survived to look that healthy on bugs alone.

10. And Rafiki would be food, or an enemy, not the Shaman or friend to the lions. Also Zazu wouldn't be Majordomo.


All in all? It's a kids' film. Adults can enjoy it, things are altered/changed to be accepted by the public. So the idea of incest is not welcome in the story. And Nala's father in not confirmed. The most? It may have been joked at that Nala's father had to be either Mufasa or Scar, but again, just joked at. Actual concrete story wise? We may never know.

Maybe Nala was brought to Sarafina by a stork 8|
Dumbo style."


Aaand yeah. Despite what you do or don't theorize on when it comes to Nala's father, Sarafina, or the way the pride/males works.

And if there is calling out and or arguing in the comments section. I'll hide your comments. This is not an "angry rant" journal. Just an, informative journal. Me telling you guys some things.

And please....Do NOT go white knighting for me. Do NOT troll people.  Do NOT go calling names and profanities at others. Thank you for wanting to stick up for me..... But it gets you no where, it can just be so rude. I know a lot of you do not like art/character theft. I don't either. But please. I do not want to see any drama over this. Often times when someone takes a character or art, they may not know that they're doing anything wrong. And they're not doing it just to be internet villains. Perhaps they find images off Google or other websites that re-post without the permission of the original artists. And may not see our "Do not use this picture" messages we put in our descriptions. And the point of this is also not to get anyone worked up or angry over the "issue". Just me being informative.

But I feel I must say something.

And it is even strange to talk about my TLK fan-art, seeing as it's been quite  a long time Since I have uploaded anything TLK into my gallery here on DA(or the internet in general for that matter).
And NO this is not aimed at any specific person, I have seen several people doing this for quite some time.

And I just want to let the world know, or, the people that do not know.

Erevu, Athena, Kuzimu, Azola, Giza, and Kijani..... are NOT official Disney characters. They are made up characters. Fan characters. Created by me. Their back-stories are also created by me.

Kuzimu made his first appearance in my gallery in 2011.
Azola in 2009.
Giza and Kijani both appeared in 2009 as well.
Erevu in 2009.
And Athena first made an appearance in 2008, and got a re-design in 2009.  

Before that, the characters did not exist online, or in the fandom.


It's kind of, strange and or surprising that these characters have caught on as well as they did.
So well and accepted, that I have seen people use them as Role Playing characters on FB and other sites.
Not only are they role playing as them... But people are using names like *Official Disney* Erevu, DISNEY Athena. Official Kuzimu. Official Disney Azola.  And so on and so forth.

Often times RPing as these characters wrong. Example? Making Kuzimu in love with Azola. Calling her beautiful (even though I am sure he sees her as beautiful on the outside, as in "Look at this pretty trophy I have and you want. I have her" He's not blind. He's just an awful brute.) and whatnot. Sorry. But no. That was an arranged/forced marriage. He treats her like an object, a trophy, and a soldier. He uses her. He is Controlling, even abusive towards her at times. She is a baby maker who should bear him sons, not a princess. He came from a line of tyrant kings.

Also I have come across Kuzimu being proud of Zira for something. Again. No. He hated Zira, and was disappointed in her from her birth. Males are held in high regard in their Pride. He wanted a prince, a little soldier, someone he could train to be the next HIM. The next Tyrant. Not some little princess. It is just the way he is. He is an evil SOB of a character. And in the end, you just see how much hate and violence there is between Zira and Kuzimu. And how much he REALLY didn't "care" for Azola.

As far as making Erevu and Athena in love? Yeah, they were in love so that doesn't bother me.

I don't see many people RPing as Giza and or Kijani. So I've not much to say on that. Except that Giza wanted to be king, challenged his younger brother Kijani (who liked Zira), beat him, and "married" Zira.  Whom then gave birth to Nuka. And Kijani lived as a rouge, had an affair with Zira at some point, and she got pregnant with Kovu and Vitani. then Giza found out and killed Kijani.

That's where I left you guys in the story. Do NOT finish this story. I've already finished it. I've just not uploaded it. And don't ask me when or if that will be uploaded. I don't know.  I may upload it, I may not. Most of you know why I am not doing my TLK artwork at this moment. So I don't really need to explain myself. (Hint...art theft. And other things)

I have even seen people use these characters in family tress, and videos.
Again, using them out of character. Mating Kuzimu with another female lion (actually the fursona of another tlk fan-artist) and giving them several babies.


I've also seen rip off designs of these characters.

Come on guys.


What's the point of this journal?

Well.

I just wanted to let anyone know that these characters are not official. They are not Cannon, not Sub-Cannon. Maybe just "Fanon".

And if you are wanting to RP as these characters, please do not.

I don't mind seeing them drawn.  I don't mind if you accept the back-stories I have created. That's so nice and flattering that you guys like the characters. That makes me happy.

But taking a character I have created and role playing as them can sometimes be weird to me. Especially if you  RP as them out of "character".


And if you see someone RPing as these characters. Do not cause issues with them. Again, it's not worth it, and they may not know that they're doing anything wrong. Just send me a message about it.



Bottom line? Point of the journal?

The characters are not Official Disney Characters. Please do not RP as them as such. Do not make them out of character. Do not mate them with other characters  and give them X-number of babies. And please do not RP as them in the first place.

They have stories. They have personalities. They have families.  I gave them those things. Because I made them up.

Asking permission to store info on their(your) computer?
I've read about it a bit. Things that sound pretty fantastical. And things that sound pretty "meh".......But nothing beats the aid of people I've actually chatted or spoken with.
So, what's up with this? I think I first got a message about it whilst watching videos on thatguywiththeglasses, who mostly( as far as I've seen) use blip to host their videos. THEN I got a message about it on YouTube.

Apparently this whole s.ytimg thing is from flash player. But I don't trust things.

So again, can anyone help out? It won't go away and I am afraid to click anything.


If you've dealt with it, please tell me how your computer reacted if you pressed allow or deny.

A lot of people keep asking me questions about commissions/trades/requests. I figured I'd make a journal here answering the most commonly asked questions.

First off, I only really make these offers through Deviantart. Unless we talk about these things via FB or Skype.
I'm still basically making the to do lists, uploads, and offers through DA.

Commissions

1. Are you open for commissions?
At this moment in time 1/18/13, no, I am not open for commissions.
You can keep an eye out for either a journal announcing when I'll be open, or you can look at the icons on my profile page. Which can be found in the upper right hand corner in the  " Donate" widget.


2. When will you be open for commissions?
I do not know when I'll be open for commissions.


3. What are your prices?
I plan to alter my commission prices soon, So please do not ask me about my prices, and do not look to old journals about the prices.


4.Can I please be put on a waiting list?
Seeing as I don't know when I will be open again, I am not going to be making a waiting list. I'll make a waiting list when I am going to be open again, in-which case, I will post a journal about. Just keep your eye open for that journal.


 Trades

1. "Can we please do a trade?"
As fun as trades are...And there are some people I'd like to ask for a trade...... I only really do trades with good friends these days. Meaning, I'd have to know you for a while.
Or perhaps I'd do  a trade with another artist that I am interested in trading with (An artist I myself admire, respect, etc...)
So, please, Unless I post a journal stating that I'd be open to trades(and I have been thinking of doing that lately for funzies!! ), please don't ask me. Just keep your eyes out for announcements and such.
OR!!! Sometimes, I may just go and ask a person to do a trade with me! You never know!!! Trades are fairly fun.


Requests

1. Will you please draw my character?
This is kind of becoming a pet peeve of mine......  Please do not ask me to give you a full on free drawing of your character. While I do draw people's characters for free...Often times, they're gifts, people aren't even asking for a drawing! I only really do requests for really good friends of mine. People I've known for years.
Or sometimes, If I am going through someone's gallery, someone I don't even know, and I see a character of theirs I like?...BOOM! A free gift drawing on a whim. Because I am like that. So please. Do not ask me for free drawings. Even my good friends don't ask me very often. I often times just draw them something without them asking, because I just feel like it. I do like giving gifts.
And don't ask for gifts.....its the same as asking for a free drawing.




Collaborations

1. Wanna do a collab?
Even though I do not get asked this one often, I feel I should at-least talk about it. It's probably worth mentioning.
And pretty much my answer to this is the same with trades, please do not ask me to collab with you on a drawing. Unless I say that I am open for a collab, or If you and I are good friends.
OR! I may just go and ask someone to do a collab with me! You never know!!

DJ stands for my initials, and 1988 is the year I was born. so DJ88. Before going onto the internet, I believe I used this name for video games.

Tablet, sometimes pencil/scanner.

Reds, browns, purples. Sometimes golds. though I am a lover of Silver.

Anywhere between 1-5 hours usually. Or longer if I keep adding things to it. I honestly do not keep track anymore. Perhaps I'll time myself in the future.

Yes, I do love to keep sketches and such.

Hmm..... Times New Roman, and or 1942 report. There's others, but I do not feel like looking for their names.

Alot alot alot.
Most of the time they're just sketches,fan-art, or more personal works that will never see the light of the internet.  Otherwise I'd have way too many images in my gallery.
Mostly sketches, sketch dumps, fan-arts, random things etc...

14.] What kind of paper do you draw your pictures on?
Printing papers for, well, printers. I usually go buy a package and just take some out and put it in my clipboard, which I take everywhere with me.

I don't really keep track. It depends on the details I suppose.

Yes, sometimes. But you guys often times don't see them >8D
Either it's something you may not find interesting, something I know may be stolen, or something I know may not work and or am too lazy to draw.
I usually plan them, or sketch them. Hardly finish.

Yes, I like them, and yes they are fun to make.

Hmmm.... not that I can recall, no.

Andreas Deja, James Baxter, Christian Riese Lassen, A.K.A David Hartman,   , , , , ......I know I am missing some people. There are several of other artists whom I really enjoy seeing art from.

22.] Do you like anime/manga? If so, what are your favorite series?
In the past I would have simply said "No". But recently I have found myself being drawn (artist humor hur hur hur) towards some animes. I do not read Mangas, no. But some animes are just so beautifully drawn, or do have a legit story line that catches my attention.

Usually it is art that is beautiful, and the animes I watch are a bit on the gory side. I don't think I can really sit through some cutesy anime with characters who have overly cute huge eyes and whatnot.
I have only watched two animes the full way through as of recently. Blood+, and Highschool of The Dead. I enjoyed Blood+, I recommend it. (No I have not seen Blood:The Last Vampire, I want to though). And I considered Highschool of The Dead a bit of a challenge to sit through.
Because of the fanservice, ALL of the fanservice. If it were just about the Zombie Breakout story it started out with, and not about boobs. It would have been more compelling, and it would have felt like much more of a horror movie.
 If you can make it through the fanservice, give it a watch. If you can't, ehhh. It may not be for you.

23.] Do you like cartoons/comics? If so, what are your favorite series?
Ohh......... Cartoons and animated series? Too many to name.  Just about anything Disney(especially The Lion King). I was a 90's kid so there's alot of cartoons from the 90's that I loved.
As for comics, I did not really get too much into them. I had an Aliens VS Predator comic that was released WAY before the first AVP film came around. And I own a KISS Psycho Circus comic, A Gambit Comic that came with a figurines I bought some years ago. But that's about it. Otherwise there are some online comics I've given a read. like 's "Ink". And a wolf comic called "Off-White". And there's some horror comics I wouldn't mind owning.

24.] Any artists that you wish you could draw like?
ANDREAS DEJA, James Baxter, , ......ohhh there's more. But I can't think of them at this moment o0

No not really. I do have some favorite books though.

I do have some drawing books, mostly horses, some anatomy books, and a few How to draw Disney books. I don't really look at them much anymore. But I keep them handy for reference.

I'm not much of a gamer anymore. I do love to play though. Like old NES,Sega,N64, Playstation games. And a computer game or two.
Mario, Sonic, Kingdom Hearts, DOOM, Cabela's Hunting games, Banjo-Kazooie, Zelda games, Star wars Racer games, etc....
I'd love to get an X-Box360 or whatever so I may play games like Skyrim and so on.

Hmmm....... Im not really a book person. So I dont know If I can really give you a favorite writer.

Black Beauty, Speak, obviously Harry Potter (the ones I've actually read anyways), there was a few others whose names escape me. I read them so long ago and do not own them. Or cannot find them. I liked what I read from Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book.

Yes. I was and still am known for fanart, but as of right now, and not uploading any fanart for various reasons.

Yep.

Oh there are severe songs for several different occasions. Depending on what mood I want for to draw whatever kind of drawing I want to draw.

Mostly for features of an animal, character, or person. To make sure my drawing is on-model.

There are one or two who seem fairly un-likeable or who have said/done something that wasn't very cool, sure. Not my business though. They've not done anything to me.

Oh, the usual,you know. When people steal my art. Or when people troll. Just leave a rude comment with no real reason to do so.

I like when my friends comment. Or when you start talking to someone of a common interest. You get to share conversations with some of the most interesting of people online. And when someone says that you've inspired them, that's always soo nice and awesome to hear.
And the mere idea of talking to someone on the other side of the world, is still awesome to me.

The amount of information right at your fingertips. The leaps forward that it has brought us . The things we can now do and or share. And also see #68.

Oh there are alot of things.  There's soo much in the negative shadow of man.

It's in storage, but it was a drawing of Scar from 2006.

I just drew. I remember drawing Unicorns, horses, lions, dragons, snakes, anything. Anything that caught my eye and imagination.  Since I was a small kid/baby.

On TLKFAA you could only draw On-Topic art. Meaning only tlk charcters or animals native to Africa. So I joined DA so I can upload my other art. Seeing as I draw/drew more than just TLK fanart. Also I could speak any way I want.  The use of profane words and such.

Thieves, trolls,etc...

Wish more people would be more respectful, understanding, etc.  And not soo negative and so on.

I am not sure what that is. So no.

I had a seasonal job that ended.

Took art in highschool.............failed it.

Not really.

Uhhhh..... I can't say I have? Other than drawing accessories/markings on OCs when I was active in my early days on TLKFAA. Does that count?

Yes I guess? No? I dunno. I am as I am. I just filter myself in RL depending on my surroundings.
