a quick journal for some recent Frequently Asked Questions I have been getting.

Q/1. I really like your "new" style, but are you still going to be drawing in the Disney style?

A/"Actually, my style is not "New". It is my actual style, I draw in it all the time, I just never upload those images (other than my horses) are usually pencil sketches, and i know no one's really going to care about them because they arent TLK art. so its almost a waste of time to upload here. not that im  drawing for fame or whatever, i draw for me. I enjoy drawing in the Disney/TLK style alot, so YES i will continue to draw tlk/disney styled art, as well as my own style. it is just soo much more free, loose, and liberating to draw in my own style and not have to recreate a whole other artist's style all the time.
I'd like to be known for being and "artist" and not just a "fan-artist". "

Q/2. I really like your art! may i please use it for a forum?

A/ "Thank you, i will only allow my art to be used on a forum if you ask me first, and include a link to my gallery and a (c)DJ88 to go with which ever picture you're using of mine"

Q/3.OMG what program(s) do you use??

A/ "I use a wacom intuos3 graphics tablet. I used to use a wacom Bamboo tablet.
I like to do my sketch/lineart in Paint Tool Sai, because its soo crisp and clean.
I also like to add my cell shading in Sai.
However I save the file as a photoshop file, and open it in Photosop Elements 4 to add
   color, effects, and a BG."

Q/4. What size brush do you use?

A/ "Well first off, you wanna draw/sketch your pictures in a 1000x1000 pixel image, then re size it to 3000x3000, then you can start inking. and i use between a size 4, to a size 7 for my outlining. that way the lines are smooth and coloring with the wand tool is simpler."

Q/5. Where did you learn how to draw?

A/ "I am a self taught artist, i didnt take any classes for art, infact i failed art in highschool. i never drew what my teacher wanted me to draw, i drew what  i wanted to draw, with the way  i knew how to draw. i pic up a few tips here and there from some anatomy/drawing books. but where  i am today is from my own observations and learning expierences"

Q/6. Can you please teach me how to draw?!?

A/ "I really dunno if  i can teach anyone how to draw, i can only give tips, the rest is up to you. you have to develop your own way and skills to do it. the skill comes easier to some and harder to others. The only tips i can really give you is to observe and try.
i once read in a "how to draw horses book" that not all horses are carbon copies of others, every horse has a personality. and in order to draw the horse properly, you have to catch the "essence" of the animal, when you look at it, what is it that makes it that "one" horse? is it just its coloring? or the way the mane falls? the shape of the face? or the look in its eyes?
whatever it is, study the animal and try to show its essence in your art.
same goes for all subjects, from wolves, to humans, to cats, to eve a frog.  everything is different.

also, learn anatomy. its one thing to draw just a horse, but you really gotta know and understand the horse inside out to draw it properly. same with all other subjects once again. from its skeletal structure, to its muscle mass. organ placement, and the extent a muscle can be flexed or stretched. you may not draw every organ or muscle fiber, but knowing placement will help you to understand the animal/subject fully, which will help you to represent whatever you're drawing in a believable image.

so study animals,EVERYTHING about them, even the not soo pretty things. look at photos (not cartoons), watch footage/documentaries.

It's always better to learn to draw the real thing before you try simplifying it into a character/cartoon."

Q/7. Can you draw my character for me?

A/ "Sorry but i wont draw your character for you if you ask me, especially if i do not know you. i only do "giftart" for friends or artists i myself admire. same with art trades. so dont ask for those either."

Q/8. Can i use your character for a rolplaying site?

A/ "No you can not role play as any of my characters."

Q/9. Can i draw a picture for you?

A/ "Yeah you can draw a picture for me XD you dont really need to ask permission to give/draw someone a gift!

Q/10. Do you think you're a good artist? Do you RALLY think that your art is THAT good?

A/ "Well, I know i don't suck, but  i know my art isn't godly. I have my mistakes and have a long way to still go artistically."

Q/11. Nice pic, but do you mind if i critique you a litte bit on something?....

A/ "Thanks, and no thanks.  I know and understand the importance and usefulness of a proper critique, but i'd rather not you critique me. I respectfully decline. if another viewer looks at my picture, and then reads your comment, and sees whats wrong with it (that they didnt notice before) it brings down the "wow" factor on my image. and also im never going to go back and fix whatever you point out in the image. i dont mean to sound snooty. but it is my picture and those are my wishes. please respect me not wanting a critique. i can usually see whats wrong with an image once  i walk away from it and see it a few times after finishing it."

Q/12. Can you please give me a critique?

A/  "I actually dont like to give critiques much, but if you really want me to critique you then okay, if i have the time  i will."

Q/13. Where do you live?

A/ "Somewhere in a Desert in the United States........ that is all :D "

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand yeah!

thats about all i can think of right now. if you have any more questions you'd like to see added onto this list, just comment it and ill see if it belongs up here or not.
i hope this helps anyone whose been wondering these things.

adios!
