All that stuff didn't seem so gruesome back in the day... just were used to it back then, I guess. :/

i knew about that, and was dissapointed!
they SHOULD have kept the alternate ending..

In past movies they let scar kill mufasa in a way which SCARED us for life ( no pun intended XD), Gaston from BeautyATB falling to his death with SKULLS in his eyes... and so on, it's too late for disney to pull off death of a villain in an innocent way XD

the suicide was BETTER =)

Cool, I have never seen that version of her death before!:D So suicide, defientily. I totally agree with you, it would have looked better and fits her personality best

I think the suicide really shows her determination to run her own life. I think the ending they chose showed a kind of weakness that wasn't present in her the entire movie, like she was giving up. But this one, she decides her fate.

Both were really suicides, one was just more obvious than the other. When she removed her paw from the rock to lash out at who was trying to save her and nearly fell at that point she was effectively saying "I'd rather die than be helped by you", and then still refusing any help until she fell. The only difference in the one they used in the film is that she shows less resolve.

Now, with the suicide, it makes more sense and looks less choppy! I voted suicide, but I am certain it wouldn't make a nice way to introduce kids to suicide D: waaay too touchy subject.

I like the suicide better. And just repeating what some other people said, Disney should have just left it because, while suicide is a touchy subject, they deal with a lot of touchy subjects in their movies. I can think of stuff that's just politically incorrect (the beginning of Dumbo) and most of their movies are actually really dark. It's disturbing to watch them (even though I love all of them) and think that this was what I watched as a kid. Plus, I feel like I've seen a kids' movie with a suicide in it before, but I can't think of it at the moment.
