Skill for sure. If you're good I don't really mind what you draw, as long as it is within Dev's rules. Tasteful. Actually good.
Something other than the crap they spew on the front page most of the time as well. Be original.

I suppose skill, common interest, subject regarding my likes/dislikes, style, a lot of things, really... yes, a mix. xD

I'd have to say an equal combination of skill, subject matter, and style. Of coarse, other things are thrown in, but these are the biggest factors. Style is a big one because I tend to be attracted to artists who have a unique style.

I watch people who need the support :dummy:
Meaning: The one's who aren't very popular, the ones who are growing still, the one's who have low self confidence.
I also watch friends, people with common interests, and some out of plain fascination for their skill.

I would have to say subject matter. If I see an artist that has a likeing for, say, Thylacines. It would draw me near therefor, I would watch to see if more thylacine stuff has been put on.

For many reasons...Skill plays most of it, but subject matter and style weigh in, too. Of course, there's also personality or friendship that works into it. :la:
And, I gotta say, originality is a huge factor as well. :meow: I've seen a few great artists that I didn't watch, simply because they were so...bland.
Oh, and the ability to take critique. If I see an artist going into a funk because someone thoughtfully pointed out a mistake...I can't bring myself to watch them.

Most of the above, in different amounts =P It's mostly a combination of all; I admire their skill, I love their style and their subject matter(s), they have great personalities (a BIG reason), or we might be friends irl. I wouldn't watch someone just because they were popular, unless I actually liked what they do xD Photos and tutorials are part of the whole deal, I guess :)
