Well I think a lot of it... I dunno. Just fanart in general. Like fans of a tv show or movie or book, people are always drawing the characters, whether it be an exact replica of a scene from Iron Man, or a drawing of what they think the cats from warrior cats would be. Or even fan characters. Fan art is a very broad area of art that almost everyone has contributed to.

Oh geeze... Probably cats, just because the type of artists that focus on art typically seem to like cats more than they like dogs, and animals seem easier to draw than humans. But that's just personal observation. You may have different results if you try to observe like I have.

Although, it seems like the artists that end up on the front page tend to do dogs more often than cats. However, I found you when I saw Legend: Massacre on the front page...

I DUNNO. It's a hard thing to guess.
