i love them both, but in teh 2nd movie all i can say is that i love Simba a little more then teh rest of the characters. but i do like kovu!

Difficult to pick an answer because a few of them are right in my perspective!

but, simba wins, i HATE what they made him in SP. kovu is a slapped together character with little real development. IS pretty to look at.

Kovu is a reverse-Simba… Simba’s whole problem is that he needs to surmount his fear of responsibility and live up to what his parents and friends want him to do. Kovu needs to surmount the hate his mother taught him and NOT live up to what they expect of him. Plus it makes up for how people were complaining in the first movie, "Oh, of course the BLACK lion is evil! I CALL RACISM!"

As far as Kovu being a “slapped together character,”... I’ll admit he’s much more cliché than Simba, and overcomes his problem a lot faster (several years in a Jungle vs two days with a hot girl and a lifestyle that revolves around fun and love, rather than hate and work), but there are some who would say that the entire Lion King movie was a thrown together wad of hack! “It’s just Hamlet with lions!” or, more legitimately, “It’s just a cheap Kimba knockoff!”

In that case, all of Simba’s character development—“oh no my father died then he appeared in a cloud and told me to fulfill my destiny,” is taken from Kimba! Therefore, SIMBA is the thrown-together unoriginal knockoff character, and Kovu, cliché and “rebel-without-a-cause” as he may be, is at least an *original* Disney character.

But I guess it could also come down to this: TLK was Hamlet, TLK2 was Romeo & Juliet. Deal with it. _{Romeo wasn't that well-developed either yet everyone loooooves Shakespeare}
